It has been almost three months since my last update for this blog. Actually my last two entries in March were about the critical health condition that my baby boy Zaid was suffering from. He is recovering now, at home depending on doses of medication and hoping for the best options with time. I hope that the worst days of this turmoil are over now and I can start take control again of some main aspects of my life. In the last few months blogging was considered as a luxury for me. Not only due to the stress of the health condition of Zaid, but due to the lack of time available for blogging and even for work with the demanding nature of raising a twin plus an 8 years old girl whose easy, calm and routine life has turned upside down. In addition to that I was still confused regarding my other blog (Arab Environment Watch) which I have updated more often but still I feel some confusion about its identity as I do not have the necessary time to provide updated and quality blogging on Arab issues apart from copying and pasting interesting articles from traditional media and summarizing new publications. I have updated my Arabic Jordan Watch blog with my articles published in Addustour, as I have resumed my column since April but I still feel that the audience of that blog is restricted to Arabic speakers and readers and I am interested in more international audience. Moreover, I have badly missed the interactive nature of this particular blog which has generated much more exciting debates than the Arabic blog. It is either due to the fact that a lot of critical and smart readers are more relaxed in expressing in English or that the audience for this blog is more open to discussions. The issue is that I cannot maintain four blog in a good quality and I need to focus my attention. What I have decided to do after careful consideration of the options is to revitalize my “Jordan Watch” blog and make it more systematic and has an identity that links with the national context with focus on development issues. The new platform of this blog will also contain the space for some personal reflections and provide me with an opportunity to vet and I hope this will contain some useful material for readers. The tags of this new platform will reflect also my major career and academic interest in environment and development issue. Posts related to politics in general will be categorized under “governance”. Economic issues will be posted under “economic policy” while the tag “social policy” will include posts on poverty, employment, youth, women and children. The category “knowledge society” will include posts related to education, awareness and ICT for development. There will be individual categories for the themes that I can claim that I will hope to provide well-informed arguments about, based on experience and academic background and those include Media, Environment, Water, Energy, Agriculture, Health and Science and technology. Three tags will continue due to their relevance: Human Rights and Global Issues. There will be a special category on Time availability will be the main limiting factor that may restrict the frequency of updating and posting but I hope I can be able to post shorter, more concise notes that will be up to the point and not consume a lot of time. I think such a pattern will also be useful for readers. To set the stage for the new approach I have already posted a package of articles that give a strength to the themes of water, energy and environment.
