This is really funny and eccentric!
It seems that our Iranian friends (well, not a lot of passion is shared at the official levels) are furious with Jordan and causing us of supporting terrorism. We are not talking here about Al Qaeda and Fath Al Islam but as supporters of Mujahedin Khalq Organization.
The hardline leftist military opposition to the Islamic regime in Iran has generously invited 33 Jordanians to participate in a rally in Paris in support of the organization's efforts to topple the regime in Iran. Among the Jordanian supporters of the resistance movement of the leftist Mujahedin were 12 parliamentarians.
I would like to tell our Iranian friends to cool down. Our Jordanian Parliamentarians would have rallied for Robert Mugabe if the rally was in Paris. It is not an issue of principles or a hostile gestures to the Iranian regime but most likely a generous invitation to tour Paris that our politically sensitive parliamentarians would never refuse.
I would really love to see our deputies and public figures participating with the Mujahedin in a rally at the Iranian borders and not in Paris. The Jordanian involvement in this case will be zero.
Amongst the Jordanian deputies touring Paris and supporting the Mujahedin was Nariman Rousan, the outspoken "opposition" figure who accused the Chief of the Royal Court Basem Awadallah as being an Israeli agent and who stated after the three terrorists attacks in Jordan in November 2005 that the perpetrators were not Al Qaeda or Zarqawi but the Mosad. I am sure the Paris trip was another occasion for her to strengthen her sharp insight of the world affairs.
