An update and analysis of development and reform challenges in Jordan from a social democratic perspective.

Off to Alexandria

Tomorrow I will be flying to the beautiful Alexandria to participate and act as a rapporteur in a debate conference entitled "Future of Sustainability in the Arab World" which will jointly organized by IUCN and Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
This will be a great chance for me to be back to the massive scientific and cultural icon of Bibliotheca Alexandrina and get another dose of firm belief of the ability of the Arab World to be an equal partner in the quest for knowledge and progress.
I will use the spirit of Bibliotheca Alexandrina to think deeply about the possibility of creating a new blog that I have been thinking about for three months now which will be the first of its kind (regarding content and objectives) in the Arab World.
Will be blogging back soon, maybe from the Bibliotheca itself on Wednesday.

Onzlo if this new blog is created, one of the previous ones has to be frozen. However, the odds are that I will not find time for the new blog.

Batir, good luck on your trip.

By the way, I'm sorry I have to do this here, but this is in response to something you said on the Ammon web site. You said:

الأخ مطلع لا أعتقد أن إدارة عمون تقوم بفلترة التعليق

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I swear to you, the admins in that web site have rejected pretty much 80+% of the comments I submit there, be they in English or in Arabic.

I'm very frustrated and really just disappointed with this web site. I still remember the first post you wrote about it when it first started, how it was supposed to be like a new revolutionary thing in Jordanian journalism. It's anything but that really today. Most of their stories are sensationalist. They are very unprofessional in their selection of titles and pictures that go with their stories. They keep giving themselves a lot of credit that they don't really deserve, and their comment section has one of the worst admins or moderators that I have ever experienced online.

By the way, I wrote a comment on your latest article there (about the opposition) and my comment was mainly to congratulate you on a well written article and I had included a couple of questions to "al karaki", but surprise surprise, my comment wasn't published!!!

I kid you not, over at least 8 out of 10 comments I wrote there was not published! And the worst thing is, what I write usually is not even considered taboo or anything, it's just opinions that they don't want other people to read!!
