A petition to save Dibbin Forest

I am sure most of you are familiar with the development regarding the proposed mega-tourism project to be established by Dubai Capital Company in the heart of Dibbin forest north of Jordan.
The proposed project, although may provide some socio-economic benefits to the area is threatening to destroy the integrity of the forest which is considered to be one of the last remaining "remnants" of natural forests in Jordan which comprise only 1% of the total area of the country.
For detailed info about the project threats see
The coalition of environmental NGOs in Jordan is organizing a campaign to exert pressures on decision makers to change the location of the project-within the same area- to be outside the natural forest.
One of the activities here is to rally for an online petition agaisnt the location of the project. The petition has been online recently and we need a lot of votes to increase the momentum of the campaign.
You can enter the Friends of Environment website where you can find the petition along with background information and a slideshow about the project
If you are convinced please contribute by signing the petition.

i am extremely disheartened at this campaign.. Why can't we be objective and wait for the EIA.. HAs anybody visited the area lately it is so sad and the RSCN needs all the support... Let us wait and be part of a scientific process why are we always this skeptical...

Jordanlover you are right but we are now in a phase of "exchanging pressures" between the firm and the environmental movement. It is important for environmentalists to display pressure at this particular stage to enhance the conditions in the end. It will be useless to wage a campaign after the decision is taken. In the final analysis NGOs are entitled to play the advocacy game or they should not exist in the first place. Regards
