I remember long ago
another starry night like this
in the firelight Fernando
you were humming to yourself
and softly strumming your guitar
I could hear the distant drums
and sounds of bugle calls
were coming from afar
They were closer now Fernando
every hour, every minute
seemed to last eternally
I was so afraid Fernando
we were young and full of life
and none of us prepared to die
and I’m not ashamed to say
the roar of guns and cannons
almost made me cry
There was something in the air that night
the stars were bright, Fernando
they were shining there for you and me
for liberty, Fernando
though we never thought that we could lose
there’s no regret
if I had to do the same again
I would my friend, Fernando
Now we’re old and grey Fernando
since many years
I haven’t seen a rifle in your hand
can you hear the drums Fernando?
Do you still recall the fateful night
we crossed the Rio Grande?
I can see it in your eyes
how proud you were to fight
for freedom in this land
There was something in the air that night
the stars were bright, Fernando
they were shining there for you and me
for liberty, Fernando
though we never thought that we could lose
there’s no regret
if I had to do the same again
I would my friend, Fernando

Batir, I also loved "SOS"...but boy, we are dating ourselves. And yes, there is that sad connection.
Did you like Air Supply at all? An office person I was exchanging emails with in the US turned out to be the daughter of two of those artists, it brought back memories.
Most people don't know this but it was ABBA who made the veil popular, as your photo clearly shows ;)
ABBA rules!!! I LOVE ABBA!!! of course making such an admission in public can be harmful to one's prestige amongst the hip hopping young, so Batir, I salute your courage. You are one brave man.
As for me, I also love Bony M, Bee Gees, Grease, ELO, and that greek singer whoes name I could never learn to spell...was it Demis Rosouess? FAR AWAY, remember that song.
As you can see, an admission in public of my love for this brand of music can be a risky proposition.

Kinzi, guess what Air supply are my second greatest band. I just adore "Making Love out of Nothing at All". My third favourite Band is A-Ha and then comes Bee Gees.
Yousef I salute you for your courage as well and yes Demise Rossos is great with that magnificant guitar playing Faraway and Goodbuy My Love".
"Well I have no problems with gays as long as they are a few kilometers away from me"
This comment confirms why Jordanians, Arabs, and more specifically Muslims will continue to live under depressing economic, social and political conditions. Your ignorance, even by such a supposed "intellectual" and educated person simply shows your inability to think critical and your failed modernization.
Enjoy living your backward ways and backward countries.
